J.R. Briggs

J.R. Briggs has three passions: to equip and invest in hungry kingdom leaders, to grow fruit on other people’s trees and to collaborate with others to create good kingdom mischief. In short, his calling is to partner with people who are called to follow Jesus while leading others.

With these passions in mind, he started Kairos Partnerships in 2011. Kairos Partnerships serves leaders – primarily faith leaders – through whole-life leadership coaching, consulting, speaking, teaching, equipping and writing.

For more than 15 years, J.R. has had the privilege to serve in pastoral roles at mega-churches, church plants and house church networks. Since starting Kairos Partnerships, he has invested in pastors and church leaders from 28 states and 40+ denominations.

In addition to pastors, he has also invested in a wide variety of leaders, including college students, pastors, U.S. Olympic athletes, church planters, Chick-Fil-A operators, college administrators, athletic directors, attorneys, business owners, seminary students and the Vice President of the United States.

He received his Masters of Missional Theology degree at Biblical Theological Seminary and is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry at Missio Seminary, writing his doctoral thesis on the need for question-based leadership in the future of the Church in North America.

He also serves as adjunct professor in the Practical Theology department at Missio Seminary as well as guest instructor at Friends University with the Apprentice Institute. He has guest lectured, taught and spoken at over a dozen colleges, universities and seminaries.

He also serves as the Director of Leadership & Congregational Formation for The Ecclesia Network as well as the Mid-Atlantic Coordinator and National Trainer for Fresh Expressions U.S. He is an affiliate consultant with Credo Higher Ed Consulting and as Lead Coach for Rooted Leadership Solutions.

He is the author, co-author and/or contributor of eleven books on a wide variety of topics, most of which seek to equip faith leaders for their health, equipping and flourishing. He has also published articles in publications including Christianity Today, the Huffington Post, American Bible Society, N.T. Wright Online, Relevant Magazine, Outreach Magazine and Faith & Leadership, among others (see full list here).

J.R. and his wife Megan have been married for over 18 years and have two sons, Carter and Bennett. They live in Lansdale, PA in the greater Philadelphia area.

Reflection/Discussion Questions:

1. Why is the pursuit of wisdom so unattractive and unappealing in our current culture?
2. Why does Jesus care so much about his followers living lives marked by wisdom?
3. If your life was marked by the intentional pursuit of wisdom, what would that look like in you specifically and practically?

Katie Taylor

KatieTaylor-chapel9833

Katie Taylor serves as the Executive Director and is the founder of Film School Africa. She studied communications at Taylor University in Indiana and during her time at university, she spent a semester at the LA Film Study Center learning film production and doing an internship with 20th Century Fox in their feature-casting department.

After university, Taylor returned to Hollywood and began assisting executive producers in television. She became more interested in screenwriting during this time, and even sold a story for one of the series. As a result of this sale, she was included into the WGA (Writers Guild of America).

She soon found that her love for the casting process was taking over, and made the jump to work with Francine Maisler, one of the world’s premiere casting directors.  With Francine, she assisted on several big budget features like Spider-man 3 and Michael Mann’s Miami Vice, as well as more artistic fare like Into the Wild and Babel. Eventually she started jumping around to work with different casting directors and numerous studios for producers and directors like Adam Sandler, Tim Burton, Alexander Payne, Ben Stiller, Marc Forster and Steven Spielberg.
