Anwar Smith
Anwar Smith, is the Executive Director of the ministry, GRIP Outreach For Youth and also an Elder and
Associate Pastor at Living Word Church in Lansing, Il where he has served for the past 12 years (9 of
those years as the Youth Pastor). In his “spare” time Anwar continues to serve as a mentor to many
young and not so young people encouraging them in their walk with the Lord. Anwar holds an M.Ed in
Educational Psychology from UIC and a BA in Christian Ministry from Taylor University. He loves watching
football, and going fishing and camping with his kids.
Anwar currently resides in Lansing, IL with his wife Michelle and their two biological children. Anwar and
his wife have been actively involved in foster care and have housed many children over the past 11 years.
