Andreas Eicher

Andi Eicher is a third-generation Taylor University graduate (TU 1992), following in the footsteps of his father, Ray Eicher (TU 1964), and his grandfather, Elmore Eicher (TU 1926). Andi is from India, where his great-grandfather, Christian Eicher, arrived as a missionary in 1904. After Indian independence in 1947, Andi’s grandfather and father were blessed with Indian citizenship.

Andi studied Biology and Environmental Science at Taylor before earning a Master’s in Forestry and a Master’s in Public Health from Yale University. In 1996, he returned to India with a desire to serve his fellow Indians and bring joy to the Lord Jesus.

For the past 25 years, Andi and his wife, Dr. Sheba, have worked with local communities across North India in holistic health and natural resource management. By God’s grace, they helped establish a tuberculosis control program in rural Jharkhand, launched and ran an HIV/AIDS home-based care program in urban settings, and worked with village farmers and end-of-life palliative care from a hospital in Central India.

Andi and Sheba currently serve with the Asha Kiran Society in the uplands of Odisha. Alongside running a missional hospital, the Asha Kiran teams work with local tribal communities to foster grassroots mother-tongue education, an innovative community mental health, rehabilitation, and palliative care program, village community health and early childhood interventions, a bamboo craft development initiative, and a growing network of eco-farming groups driving change through participatory action.

Andi and Sheba are blessed with three amazing children: Asha (TU 2023), Enoch (TU 2025), and their foster son, Yohan.
