Anwar Smith
Anwar Smith is a 2000 graduate of Taylor University with a degree in Christian Ministries. He is the Executive Director of the urban ministry, GRIP Outreach For Youth, whose mission is to invest in Chicago’s youth through Christ-centered Life-on-Life relationships. In other words, GRIP is all about connecting high school students who may not otherwise have a Christian influence in their lives with trained, Christian adult mentors. He is an Elder and Pastor at Living Word Church in Lansing, Il where he has served for the past 15 years. Anwar holds a Masters degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He loves watching football, and fishing and camping with his kids.
Anwar currently resides in Lansing, IL with his wife Michelle and their two biological children. Anwar and his wife have been actively involved in foster care and have housed many children over the past 13 years.
