Pastor Juan had worked prior to the ministry in the public schools of Puerto Rico, Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT for 27 years.
In 1996 he began to pastor Calvary’s Love Church, a year after it was founded. Calvary’s Love began as a church plant in 1995. Its humble beginnings were at the YMCA in Springfield led by Sister Carmen Rubilar. Calvary’s Love has had several places of worship such as Church of Redemption on Berkshire Ave., the Community Room of Division Street, Christ Presbyterian on Allen Street, and currently on 19 Oakland Street which was purchased in 2008. The current home was the former Kesser Israel Synagogue. The church continues to grow in membership; it enjoys a multi-cultural make up and offers bilingual services in Spanish and English.
