Anwar Smith
The Lord has given Anwar Smith a passion to serve youth since he was a teenager. Prior to joining By The Hand Club in 2014, Anwar served as a director for a large nonprofit organization where he provided consultation to 26 community centers in and around Chicago. Before that he lived and worked in Wisconsin for a ministry to at-risk youth who were referred by the court. In his “spare” time, Anwar is the volunteer youth pastor at Living Word Church and has an extensive letter writing ministry to inmates in prison. Anwar has a Master of Education degree in youth development from UIC and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian education and youth ministry from Taylor University.
Reflection/Discussion Questions:
- When was the last time your heart was so gripped with the immensity of an issue that you felt compelled to do something about it?
- As you read scripture what are some of the issues that you noticed Jesus purposefully getting engaged in?
- What are some of the things that get in the way of you getting involved in issues that matter to God?
